Term Paper

Objectives

To provide the opportunity for students to apply the analytical knownledge, practical skills and software tools learnt in this course to a selected real-world problem to help decision makers and stakeholders make clear and defensible decisions

 

PhD/MEng students or those who aspire to pursue a research degree are welcome to do a research-oriented paper related to decision analysis instead of an application paper. Please consult the professor on relevant topics.

Schedule

  • Submit a one-page proposal via Canvas (Link) by date TBA using this Word template.
  • Submit final report & deliverables via Canvas (Link) by the end of reading week (22 Nov 2024).

The Proposal

The one-page proposal should have the following information:

  • Your name, matriculation number and contact.
  • Title of term paper (tentative, but be specific as possible).
  • Problem background, description and objectives.
  • Decisions to be made.
  • Possible alternatives for the decisions above.
  • Major factors and uncertainties.
  • Sources of data/information.
  • Software: DPL, YAAHP, Excel, Py etc.
  • Other information.

The Final Report

The final report is due at the end of the reading week (22 Nov 2024).
